I met Lyndon Harris on a web forum relating to contemporary pornographic practices. Lyndon and I shared a respect for the website sleepcreep.com, along with other websites that we have deemed forms of modern mythology, such as the Bang Bus and the MILF Hunter. In an attempt to portray this new mythology as such, we labored to create the Sleep Creep comic, a first in what we hope to be a long series of comics adapted from pornographic websites. More importantly, we hope to build a stronger community of web pornography aficionados.
Working long nights at CompuServ in Urbana, Illinois as a tech support operator, I found comfort in the Sleep Creep and other sites. I felt a sense of companionship with the artists who create such websites and, in doing so, express sexual desires similar to my own. I thought that maybe they had experienced the same frustrations and conquest as I had – that my problems were not unique to me. When I found Lyndon, a high school art teacher in Arizona, I knew that I was not alone – that there were others out there thwarted by social mores and sequestered to the Internet to fulfill their needs.
Lyndon articulated some concern over copyright infringement with these comics because the name, some photographs, and much of the text are taken directly from the site, but I persuaded him that the makers of sleepcreep.com would understand, for we are their brethren and friends.
I hope you enjoy this comic as much as we did making it. Look forward to future editions and remember that you are not alone.
